1- I have made the decision to become real estate agent in BC. What do I need to do to get started?
- Before you register for the Real Estate Trading Services Licensing Course at UBC, you should take the time to do some research on the "BC Financial Services Authority" website.
- You should also become familiar with the BC Financial Services Authority's Good Reputation Guidelines to make sure you qualify for a real estate trading license in BC.
2- What are the requirements to obtain a real estate license?
The BC government has several requirements to obtain your individual real estate license in BC:
- Must be 19 or older and proof of Canadian citizenship, Permanent Resident, or a work permit.
- Must have a good reputation and no criminal record.
- Must meet the English Language Proficiency Requirement (ELPR) to be eligible to write the UBC exam.
- Register for the UBC for the "Real Estate Trading Services" course at UBC, complete 20 assignments (400 questions in total) within a year.
- Pass the UBC Real Estate licensing Exam within 2 years of registration.
- Complete the first phase of the "Real Estate Trading Applied Course to apply for temporary license and join a brokerage, and finally
- Complete the second phase of the "Real Estate Trading Applied Course" while trading to get a full license.
3- How can I enroll in the real estate trading services course?
- The Real Estate Trading Services Course is offered as a correspondence course through the UBC on behalf of the BC Financial Services Authority.
- You may register by phone at 604-822-8444, or online at UBC registration page; this course is offered by the UBC.
- Our real estate TUTORIAL programs at Excel Realty Academy are designed to help get you through the required UBC real estate course.
4- Do I need to purchase a HP10BII or (+) calculator?
YES! You need this calculator or the App (depend on where you’re writing the exam) for your UBC real estate exam and it is important to master it.
5- Can I work part-time as a REALTOR® while keeping my current job?
- Yes. It is very common for new Realtors® to split time between their current job and their new profession.
- Once they establish a solid client base and increase their real estate income, they shift permanently into their new role as a Realtor®.
6- What are the prerequisites of the Excel Realty Academy?
We believe in planning ahead and proper preparation, therefore the following 2 prerequisites apply:
- You must be registered for the UBC real estate course.
- IF you do NOT meet the BCFSA English proficiency requirement, and you are NOT fluent in reading, writing, and speaking in English you MUST pass the CELPIP-General English Language exam before starting our classes. But, if you are fluent in reading, writing, and speaking in English you can enroll in our classes and write the CELPIP-General later.
We have these requirements in place so you can focus on your real estate course studies without distractions.
7- How much does it cost to register at the Excel Realty Academy?
Please visit our “Our Programs and Fee” page.
8- I already have experience as a REALTOR®. Can I just register at the UBC, self-study the material and then take the BC real estate licensing exam?
UBC constantly updates their course material.
Because of the challenging nature of the math and law sections, and the overall difficulty of the real estate licensing exam, we encourage anyone who is not 100% familiar with the latest real estate course material, to consider our real estate tutorial services.
9- I have failed the UBC real estate exam before, should I register for your real estate course?
- Absolutely yes!
- We have helped many students from other schools to pass the exam — we can help you as well.
- Persistence is the key to success, but you need more than that — you need the right tools!
- Our approach is proven. Our techniques are first-rate. Our commitment is 100%.
10- What happens if I fail the UBC real estate exam?
- You can retake the exam after 90 days.
- If you attended all Excel Realty Academy classes, completed all homework, and wrote the UBC exam within 4 weeks after completing our schedule, you are unlikely to fail.
- However, if you do, you can re-enroll in our next available schedule for free within 6 months of your first class — no questions asked other than the proof of failure requirement.
This is our IRONCLAD belief that we have in our program.
11- What is the difference between the UBC real estate course and the Excel Realty Academy real estate training program?
- The UBC Real Estate Trading Licensing course is the BC government's requirement.
- Excel Realty Academy is a tutorial company to help you master the UBC study material faster and pass the UBC exam with ease.
- We teach you how to better understand the UBC material in a simplified and easy to understand language so you can pass the UBC real estate exam and get on with your career.
- We provide you with all the tools you will need including key chapter notes, visually friendly charts, reviews, calculator notes, online training and even an in-class hands-on computerized mock exam! We are here to guide you every step of the way.
